For full-color or multi-color designs, and for small-to-mid runs, DTF is usually cheaper because there are no per-color screen fees - just a flat $15 per-location setup. Screen printing becomes cheaper on large runs (250+ pieces) of simple 1-2 color designs, where its low per-shirt ink cost wins out.
