Can you print a photo on a shirt for a memorial or tribute?
Yes. Photo memorial and tribute shirts are printed on DTG, which reproduces a photograph in full color with no screens, no setup fee and no minimum, so a family can order one shirt or enough for everyone attending. The print runs $15.00 per shirt at 12 pieces on a white or light shirt and $20.00 on a dark shirt, plus the blank. The single most important thing is the photo: send the original, highest-resolution file you have. Standard turnaround is about 2-3 weeks after the artwork is approved and the deposit is paid; if there is a service date, tell us when you reach out.

Why these shirts are printed on DTG
A photograph is thousands of colors and smooth tones, which screen printing can only approximate with halftones and many screens. DTG prints the image the way a photo printer does, straight from the file, so skin tones, faces and soft backgrounds come through, and a full-color photo costs the same to print as a single-color name.
It also suits how these orders happen. Families often need anywhere from a handful of shirts to a few dozen, sizes are collected quickly, and there is no reason to pay for setup on a short run. DTG has no minimum. If the order is large and the design is simple text or a line drawing, screen printing at 36 pieces or more can be the better value, and we will tell you if it is.
What photo to send
- The original file. A photo straight from the phone or camera, or a high-resolution scan of a printed photo, at 300 DPI at the size it will print.
- Not a screenshot or a photo of a photo. Screenshots and images saved from social media are compressed and print soft; a photo of a framed print adds glare and distortion.
- Transparent PNG is fine. If the person is already cut out from the background, a high-resolution PNG with transparency is ideal; our art team can also take the background out.
- Vector for text and logos. Names, dates and any logo print sharpest from vector artwork (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF), though we can set the text for you.
Light shirt or dark shirt
A photo is most faithful on a white or light shirt, where the inks go straight onto the fabric. On a black or dark shirt, the garment is pretreated and a white underbase goes down first so the image reads; it still looks good, but the result has more contrast and costs more to print. DTG prints best on 100% cotton.

Most tribute shirts combine a photo with a name, dates and a short line of text. Our art team can lay that out for you; artwork services are quoted up front if the work goes beyond minor adjustments. Free digital proof on every order; production starts only after your written approval. We cannot add detail a small or blurry photo does not have, and we will tell you at the proof if an image is going to print soft, so there are no surprises when the shirts arrive.
