The 100% cotton face is the trick: most budget fleece has polyester at the surface, which fights ink. The SS4500 prints clean, bold chest and back graphics without the heavy fibrillation cheaper hoodies show after a wash.
It is also the default canvas for dimensional looks: puff ink on fleece is the streetwear signature, and the midweight body carries left-chest embroidery without puckering.
Decoration
Which Decoration Method Works Best on the Independent SS4500?
Screen printing
Front, back, and sleeve prints all work. The cotton face takes standard and water-based plastisol cleanly; allow for the hoodie pocket and drawcords in the layout, which we handle on the proof.
Puff and specialty inks
Puff on fleece is the classic streetwear look, and the SS4500 is the blank we print it on most. See our specialty inks page for how the dimensional effects are priced.
Embroidery
Left-chest logos and small wordmarks stitch cleanly on the midweight fleece. Very high stitch counts can dimple lighter fleece, so we keep dense fills in check at digitizing.
