A Stanley/Stella Creator 2.0 tee is 100% organic ring spun combed cotton, labeled GOTS organic, with Fair Wear and PETA vegan logos in Stanley/Stella's data. In a dyed color it is listed at 2.28 kg CO2 eq and 1.09 cubic meters of water from cradle to factory gate, and 4.08 kg and 2.12 cubic meters through to end of life.
We are an official Stanley/Stella dealer in Santa Fe Springs. Every material, certification and impact figure here comes from Stanley/Stella's product API. The full lineup is on our Stanley/Stella hub.
What do "cradle to gate" and "cradle to grave" mean?
Stanley/Stella publishes two figures for carbon and two for water on most products, including every style in this article. Their product pages define them:
- Cradle to gate covers raw material sourcing, all steps of production and transport up to the garment factory gate. It is an estimate based on Life Cycle Assessment methodology.
- Cradle to grave adds downstream transportation, decoration, use by the wearer and the product's disposal or recycling.
Carbon is in kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent (kg CO2 eq). Water is in cubic meters in the product data; Stanley/Stella's US pages show it in gallons. One cubic meter is about 264 gallons.
How much carbon and water does a Stanley/Stella shirt use?
Figures are per garment, from the Stanley/Stella product API. The main row for each style is its dyed colors; Natural Raw is listed separately where it differs.
| Style | Fiber | Weight | Carbon, gate (kg CO2 eq) | Carbon, grave | Water, gate (cubic meters) | Water, grave |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Creator 2.0 | 100% organic ring spun combed cotton | 5.3 oz | 2.28 | 4.08 | 1.09 | 2.12 |
| Creator 2.0, Natural Raw | Same | 5.3 oz | 1.83 | 3.63 | 0.66 | 1.69 |
| Crafter | 100% organic ring spun combed cotton | 4.6 oz | 1.89 | 3.47 | 0.86 | 1.71 |

Weights are ounces per square yard.
Three things stand out in the data:
- Undyed is lowest. In all eight styles we checked, Natural Raw has the lowest carbon and water figures. On the Creator 2.0 it is 1.83 kg CO2 eq against 2.28, about 20% less carbon, and 0.66 cubic meters of water against 1.09, about 39% less, cradle to gate. White, Off White and Vintage White carry the same figures as the dyed colors.
- Weight matters, but it is not the whole story. Among the tees, the 4.6 oz Crafter is the lowest and the 7 oz Freestyler the highest. In fleece, the 8.3 oz Drummer 2.0 hoodie is listed slightly above the 10.3 oz Changer 2.0 crewneck. A 10.3 oz Cruiser 2.0 hoodie carries about three and a half times the carbon of a Creator 2.0 tee, cradle to gate.
- On the Creator 2.0, heathers are close to colors. On that tee, heather colors are listed at 2.31 kg and 1.17 cubic meters, just above the dyed colors.
In gallons, a dyed Creator 2.0 is about 288 gallons of water cradle to gate and a Natural Raw one about 174.

How does the Creator 2.0 compare with other popular blanks?
On fiber, per each supplier's data:
| Shirt | Fiber, per supplier data |
|---|---|
| Stanley/Stella Creator 2.0 | 100% organic ring spun combed cotton, 5.3 oz |
| Bella+Canvas 3001 | 100% Airlume combed and ring spun cotton, 4.2 oz |
| Comfort Colors 1717 | 100% ring spun cotton, 6.1 oz, garment dyed |
The S&S Activewear description of the 1717 lists US grown BCI cotton, OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and Fair Labor accreditation. We do not have matching per-garment carbon and water figures for the other two shirts, so this table compares fiber only.
How can you make a custom order more sustainable?
- Pick Natural Raw where the design allows. It has the lowest carbon and water figures in every style we checked, from the Crafter to the Cruiser 2.0.
- Pick the lightest weight that does the job. The Crafter and Creator 2.0 sit well below the heavier tees in the table.
- Order the right quantity. Every unworn shirt still carries its cradle-to-gate footprint, so order to your real size list rather than rounding every size up.
- Make it last. Stanley/Stella's care data for the Creator 2.0: wash cold at 86°F, do not bleach, tumble dry low, iron low at 230°F, do not dry clean.
Which decoration to use is mostly a question of look, feel and quantity; our screen print vs DTG vs DTF vs embroidery comparison puts them side by side, and embroidery on Stanley/Stella hoodies covers staff gear.
