The Stanley/Stella Creator 2.0 and the AS Colour Staple Tee (5001) are both 5.3 oz cotton tees. The Creator 2.0 is organic cotton with a medium fit and certifications you can name; the Staple is combed cotton with a regular fit and a slightly finer yarn. On press, the two print almost identically.
French Press Custom is an official Stanley/Stella dealer in Santa Fe Springs, serving Los Angeles and Orange County, and we print both tees. Get an exact price for your quantity and print in our quote calculator.
Are the Creator 2.0 and the AS Colour Staple the same weight?
Yes, on paper. Stanley/Stella lists the Creator 2.0 at 5.3 oz/yd², and AS Colour lists the Staple at 5.3 oz (180 GSM). That makes this the closest like-for-like comparison in our tee guides. The differences are in the yarn, the cotton itself and the cut.

What does 24 singles vs 28 singles mean?
Singles measure yarn fineness: a lower number is a slightly thicker yarn. At the same fabric weight, the Creator 2.0's 24-singles yarn gives a little more texture and body, and the Staple's 28-singles yarn is a touch finer and smoother.
How do the fits compare?
Stanley/Stella calls the Creator 2.0 a medium fit, and AS Colour calls the Staple a regular fit. The Creator 2.0 also adds an XXS size, which helps when a group includes smaller wearers, and our Creator 2.0 page has its full size chart.
Which has more colors?
The Creator 2.0, with 52 published colors against 33 Staple colors in our catalog. The Staple has one detail of its own: AS Colour lists its Bone, Natural and Ecru colors as UPF 10+.
Is the Creator 2.0 or the Staple better for printing?
Both are 100% cotton in solid colors, so both take screen printing, DTG and embroidery well. AS Colour itself says the Staple suits all three.
- Screen printing. Same weight and same fiber, so expect very similar results on press. Choose on fit and fabric, not printability.
- DTG. Cotton is the fiber DTG ink is made for. Dark colors on either tee get a white underbase.
- Embroidery. A left chest logo up to 5,000 stitches runs the same on both.
What are the minimums and turnaround?
Screen printing starts at 36 pieces per design, embroidery at 24, DTF at 12, and DTG has no minimum. Standard turnaround is about 2-3 weeks after art approval. Rush is available depending on the schedule, so tell us your date.
Which should you choose?
Choose the Creator 2.0 if organic cotton and named certifications matter to you or your customers, if you want XXS in the size run, or if you want the wider color range. Stanley/Stella shows the style and its color range on its Creator 2.0 product page.
Choose the AS Colour Staple if you prefer its slightly finer yarn and regular fit, or your brand already uses AS Colour. AS Colour also makes an organic version, the Staple Organic Tee (5001G), which is in our catalog.
