For most custom embroidery orders, the Richardson 112 is the best all-round hat: a structured twill-front trucker with a snapback that fits a whole crew, over 100 colorways, and a front panel that holds flat and 3D puff stitching cleanly. Pick the Flexfit 6277 when you want a fitted, closed-back cap and can collect sizes, and pick the YP Classics 6006 (the Yupoong line) when you want a high-profile, flat-bill five-panel look or the lowest price per hat of the three.
All three are in our live S&S Activewear catalog, and we stitch all three in-house in Santa Fe Springs. Below is how they compare, with prices run through the same pricing engine as our instant quote calculator.
Side-by-side comparison
Prices are per hat, before sales tax, for a black hat with one front logo of up to 5,000 stitches. They include the blank and the embroidery. A one-time $45 digitizing fee per design is added once to the order.

Supplier specs are from the S&S catalog descriptions for each style; the supplier does not publish a fabric weight for these caps. Colorway counts in our catalog today: 115 for the 112, 28 for the 6277, and 34 for the 6006. Camo, Multicam and a few specialty colorways on the 6277 and 6006 carry a supplier upcharge, so they price above the black hat shown here.
What a full order looks like at 48 hats, including the $45 digitizing fee and sales tax on the blanks: $949.68 for the Richardson 112, $1,089.71 for the Flexfit 6277, and $845.20 for the YP Classics 6006.
Richardson 112: the default for a reason
The 112 is the blank that crosses our embroidery machines most. The structured twill front keeps stitches crisp, holds fine text down to about a quarter inch, and gives 3D puff letters room to stand up without crowding the visor. The mesh back keeps it cool, and the snapback means one size covers almost everyone, so you do not need a size list from your team.
The other reason it wins is color. With over 100 colorways, including the classic two-tone splits, there is almost always a 112 that matches a brand palette. You can also mix colorways of the same blank inside one run at no extra cost, for example black for the crew and a Heather Grey/Black two-tone for managers.
One detail worth knowing: the classic 112 has a twill front, not foam. Richardson sells foam and printed variants under similar numbers, but when people ask for "the 112 look" they mean the twill-front trucker, and that is what we price here. Our Richardson 112 page also covers the low-profile 115 and the five-panel 112FP.
Flexfit 6277: when you want a fitted cap
The 6277 is the stretch-fit cap most people picture when they hear "Flexfit": a closed back, a curved visor, and a stretch band that sizes it. It is a clean, finished look for golf events, staff gifts, and anyone who does not like a snap or strap.
The tradeoff is sizing. It comes in S/M, L/XL and XL/2XL, so you need to know who is getting which size before the order goes in, and leftovers do not fit everyone. It is also the most expensive blank of the three. If you want the shape without the size list, the 112 is the snapback alternative.
YP Classics 6006: high profile, flat bill, five panels
The 6006 is a five-panel trucker with a tall, structured crown and a flat bill. Five panels means there is no seam down the center of the front, so a wide wordmark sits on one uninterrupted panel instead of straddling a seam. That makes it a strong pick for long logos and streetwear-style merch.
It is also the least expensive of the three blanks in our catalog, which is why it shows up on large giveaway and event runs. The high crown is a look, though, and not everyone wants it; if your crew prefers a lower, rounder hat, the 112 is the safer choice.
What changes the price
- Quantity tier. The embroidery rate drops at 48 and again at 100 hats. The blank price does not change by quantity in our catalog.
- Stitch count. The prices above include a logo of up to 5,000 stitches. A full front panel usually runs 8,000 to 15,000 stitches. Going from 5,000 to 8,000 stitches adds $1.16 per hat at 48 pieces on the 112. Our stitch count guide explains how to estimate yours.
- Digitizing. The $45 fee is charged once per logo file. We keep your stitch file, so a reorder of the same logo skips it.
- Extra placements. A side or back logo is its own embroidery placement: it adds to the per-hat price and carries its own $45 digitizing fee.
Live tiers for every quantity are on the embroidery cost guide.

Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order for custom embroidered hats?
Embroidered hats start at 24 per design, and every hat decoration has that same hat minimum. You can split those 24 across colorways of the same blank at no extra cost.
How much does a custom embroidered Richardson 112 cost?
At 48 hats, a black 112 with one front logo of up to 5,000 stitches is $17.68 per hat before tax, plus a one-time $45 digitizing fee. At 100 hats it drops to $16.37 per hat.
Is the Flexfit 6277 adjustable?
No. The 6277 is a stretch-fit cap with a closed back, sold in S/M, L/XL and XL/2XL. If you need one size for everyone, choose a snapback like the Richardson 112 or YP Classics 6006.
Can you do 3D puff embroidery on these hats?
Yes. Structured front panels hold puff best, and the mid-profile 112 is the standard choice for bold puff lettering. Tell us on the quote request and we will confirm the design on your proof.
Why is the YP Classics 6006 good for wide logos?
It is a five-panel cap, so the front is one panel with no center seam. A long wordmark sits flat across it instead of crossing a seam.
How long does a custom hat order take?
About 2-3 weeks after art approval. Every order gets a free digital proof first, and production starts only after you approve it in writing.
